PeachVet Pet Wellness is a primary care veterinary clinic in Roswell, GA. Our medical team has 15 years of experience and specializes in, fear free care delivery (Fear Free certified), has prior experience in primary care, emergency care, and dentistry. Our goal is to not only provide compassionate care for dogs and cats, but research based veterinary care with diagnostic work up, excellent customer service, and an emphasis on employee work life balance. We are open Monday through Friday (no weekends), 8am to 5pm.

Our clinic operates with paperless records and utilizes: ezyVet software with a virtual whiteboard and anesthesia monitoring, in house IDEXX laboratory equipment, ultrasound, digital radiology, and digital dental radiology. In clinic training will be provided for all in house equipment, ezyVet software, as well as customer service training with all employees.

The responsibilities of veterinary assistants vary considerably and they may be assigned to assist in the exam room and in surgery with the doctor; or for the veterinary technicians. More typically, though, they will divide their time between assisting the receptionists, helping doctors with physical examinations, dispensing medications, and helping position patients for and process radiographs, prepare patients for surgery, provide nursing and comfort care, and perform treatments or basic laboratory diagnostic tests.

We have a small, tight knit crew, therefore, veterinary assistants must build positive, professional relationships with clients and staff members. Assistants should have completed or be in the process of completing their high school diplomas and must pursue significant on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

  • Feed, clean, and weigh animals
  • Clean cages and bathe animals
  • Sterilize equipment and clean examination tables and rooms
  • Restrain animals during examinations or vaccinations
  • Soothe upset or frightened animals
  • Administer medication prescribed by Veterinarians (e.g. by mixing it with food or giving by mouth)
  • Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Vet
  • Help in cases of emergencies
  • Handle some administrative duties such as scheduling appointments or calling patients in the examination room by priority
  • Keep accurate paperless records and logs; Comfortable using a computer and virtual whiteboard
  • Reassure clients that their pets are being cared for and explain any issues.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant or similar position working with animals
  • Experience in an administrative role is a plus
  • Current or former pet ownership is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Patient and caring personality
  • Ability to follow instructions properly
  • Comfortable being around animals (cats, dogs)
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)
  • Availability to occasionally work in emergencies
  • Certificate from a Veterinary Assistant program and/or certification in Fear Free is a Plus!

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT/CVT) Job description

emphasis on employee work life balance. We are open Monday through Friday (no weekends), 8am to 6pm. We are a tight knit, small crew, therefore being friendly and willing to work well with fellow staff and clients is a must.

In clinic training will be provided for all in house equipment, ezyVet software, as well as customer service training with all employees.

The LVT (or RVT) has many important responsibilities and plays many roles within the hospital. They apply their professional skills in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, laboratory testing, patient nursing, and client education.

The technician is routinely entrusted with patient assessments, anesthesia, procedures, and treatments. They must be a detail-oriented person who can make good decisions, respond quickly and calmly to crises, and maintain high standards of patient care. Technicians need to communicate clearly with the doctors, other hospital personnel, and clients to ensure that patients receive the care that they need.

LVTs should enjoy working with diverse people and animals and be friendly and flexible in the face of varying expectations from clients and co-workers. They must share a firm belief in the quality of care we provide and communicate this sense of assurance to clients. It is important to know and understand our services and recommendations and be able to clearly convey the value of the services to the clients. Excellent client communication skills and a commitment to outstanding client service are essential.

Education and Essential Qualifications

 

  • Technicians must be graduates of an AVMA accredited training school or
  • Basic computer literacy including the ability to type on a computer keyboard, use a computer mouse, and view information on a computer screen is required.
  • Employees must have the physical strength and ability to lift and carry a pet or other object weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. He or she must be able to assist in lifting patients or other objects weighing more than 50 pounds.
  • Technical employees must be able to safely and competently operate equipment pertinent to carrying out their duties, including but not limited to laboratory equipment, anesthesia and dental equipment, and the x-ray machine and processor.

Technicians must be able to view physical symptoms or medical problems, read medical instruments, and follow handwritten or digital instructions. The LVT must ascertain whether there are any deficiencies in knowledge of these areas by any on the team and advise for training in those areas.
